Abstract

The paper addresses the issue of artificial intelligence as a potential suicidogenic threat. Motivation for the development of this topic comes from the alarming statistical picture of the mental health condition of societies. The aim of the analysis is to examine the mechanisms through which arti-ficial intelligence systems may function as catalysts of suicidal behavior. The study covers, among oth-ers, the psychological aspects of technological influence, including AI psychosis, sycophancy, and the assessment of gaps in the current legal framework in this context. The main research question is formu-lated as follows: In what way do artificial intelligence systems influence individuals’ decision-making processes, leading to suicidal crisis situations? The research hypothesis assumes that artificial intelli-gence, despite its supportive potential, constitutes a risk factor for suicidal behavior among users due to the lack of effective safety protocols. The interdisciplinary nature of the issue determines the use of academic contributions from law, criminology, psychology, and sociology. Therefore, to verify the hy-pothesis, a literature review method was applied, including current reports and the latest research on artificial intelligence safety. In addition, to conduct a detailed analysis of documented incidents, a case study method was used, including the cases of Adam Raine, Alan Brooks, among others.
