The Potential of Non-Governmental Organizations in the Defense Preparation of the Society

The nature of contemporary threats, their unpredictability and complexity make it necessary to search for effective ways to prepare society for threats. This inevitability is also results from the fact that specialised national entities are not able to work effectively for citizens without their participation. Experience of Poland as well as other countries highlights the need to take into an account and support this sector in order to provide security. Therefore, the idea of non-governmental organisation (NGO) based on the commitment of society is an important element in the process of defensive preparation of society. The author in this article focuses on the functioning of NGO, the aim and content of education for security, the fields and abilities of the functioning of this sector in connection with defensive preparation of the society.
