Abstract

The phenomenon of Utopian consciousness manifests itself both in art and in society. Its very essence lies in unintentional substitution of reality by the desirable. Such imperceptible substitution is the main reason of spreading of Utopian practices in the history of certain societies and the persistence of Utopian consciousness in the present. Various discursive practices include elements of Utopian consciousness. Convincing examples of linguistic consciousness of this kind are present in political discourse. The contemporary society does not get rid of the Utopia complex and, moreover, refusing one kind of Utopia inadvertently substitutes it for another.
