Contrasting the “real man” concept with the phenomenon of real men, cognitive nature of identity law and phenomenological essence of authenticity principle are revealed. Negative (unmanifested) essence and atomicity of a person’s life world and principle of awareness attributed to it are postulated.
2021-11-03T00:00:00+00:00 Prawa autorskie (c) Kontextová senzitívnosť pomenovania osôb mužského rodu 2021-11-03T14:07:31+00:00 Lujza Urbancová
The author pays attention to lexical meaning of contextual sensitive words. The meaning can vary in various texts. Although the meaning is diverse, people understand it in communication due to a broader context, for example, stereotypes existing in a society. The paper deals with the words chlap, muž and their common adjective collocations. It also includes the social part of lexical meaning of the adjective dobrý used together with the noun chlap. The study of the Slovak national corpora confirms that the social part of the meaning mirrors gender system of Slovak society.
In addition to information about the glorious exploits of Achilles during the Trojan War, the tradition has preserved numerous sources telling about peculiarities of his growing up. Educational programs, which were developed for the young Achilles by his mentors Chiron and Phoenix, form the basis for the formation of the Homeric hero, not alien to the ancient Greek pedagogy of the VI-V century B.C. Plots about the peculiarities of training and education of Achilles, present on ceramics from the VI-V centuries B.C. are considered to be visual markers of the history of ancient Greek education. Achilles is an idealized image of the hero, which captures the features of the pedagogical tradition of Homeric time. The two mentors of Achilles make it possible to trace the phenomenon of educational continuity in the ancient pedagogical tradition.
This article analyzes the text of Aeschylus’s tragedy Seven against Thebes in the context of one of the main characters - Eteocles - as a male character. In the text of Aeschylus, Eteocles looks like a tough ruler who is endowed with certain masculine qualities. Moreover, through his words, the male character is sometimes expressed. This helps him save his hometown, but at the same time leads him to death. According to Eteocles, the men of Thebes in the face of the enemy must protect their Mother Earth with shields in their hands. In addition to identifying a warrior with a shield, Aeschylus, through the words of Eteocles, indicates that the place of the male protector is on the battlements and in the gates with towers. According to Aeschylus, Eteocles is the bravest master (king) of the Cadmeans. The use of the word ἄναξ in relation to Eteocles reflects the archaic nature of the story of Seven against Thebes. Eteocles as a male character is not just the bravest king of the Cadmeans, but he also pretends to be a wise ruler. According to Aeschylus, Eteocles is an almost exclusively positive male character, despite the fact that he indicates that evil has been done to Polyneices.
The article defines the features of military virtue, which is given to the heroes from the Kalmyk version of the heroic Epic of Jangar. The main hero of the Epic is the hero Jangar, who rallied the heroes around himself and created the country of Bumba. All the songs of the Epic are associated with Jangar. The hero Jangar personifies a wise ruler and a brave warrior, who instructs his heroes and inspires them to exploits. Jangar and his heroes are not just brave warriors, but also bearers of unique characters and skills. Their individuality is emphasized in the descriptions of their actions, weapons and war horses. In the epic there are also young heroes, who following the example of the heroes, defend the country of Bumba from enemies. Since the Kalmyk “Jangar” is a composite work, the article compares songs belonging to the repertoires of different jangarchis: twelve songs translated by S. Lipkin (which includes ten songs from the repertoire of Eelyan Ovla), six songs from the repertoire of Mukeben Basangov translated by N. Bitkeev and three songs of the Maloderbetovsky version translated by A. Kantemir’ satire, A.E. Izmailov’s novel, A. Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin and The Bronze Horseman), represents the initial stage in the evolution of the semantic halo of this name in Russian literature, through an onomastic prism. The study is based on a matrix that takes into account the interaction of components that make up the semantic core of the concept of "nobility": nobility of the family, adherence to external decorum, high moral qualities. The main point was to check in Russian literature for "true Eugene", possessing all the signs of nobility, genetic, external, internal. The answer turned out to be negative: the semantics of the loss of various components turns out to be a constitutional feature of the semantic halo of the name. Russian literature at the initial stage of the development of "Eugene's plot" was more likely to move away from the semantics of the name, fixing the absence of nobility in the "noble", differently approaching the description of this phenomenon. Four heroes were involved in a united plot of the evolution of the semantic halo of the name - processing from satire to tragedy.
The key role of the ethics in the H. v. The writer did not see in the representatives of the merchant dynasties people capable of building a worthy future for Russia. Even the presented image of the “atypical”, “broken out” from the class of his own kind, Foma Gordeev, became similar to Gorky's “superfluous person”, unable to become an active fighter for the reorganization of the world. In the story The Young Jackdaw (In the Established Order), published in 1910 in the short story collection Knowledge, the writer starts a conversation about the fallen women. Initially, the forest in Leśmian's poetry appears as symbolism of spiritual states: melancholy, longing and sadness, which are the characteristic features of the Young Poland poetry, which was primarily patronized by Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer. Then, in the poems from Orchard, he announces the project of a union of human and nature and a turn towards the original instinctuality, the implementation of which the next volume will bring.
Aa essential text is the poem Green Hour. This is the mystery of the existential tragedy of the human who lives on the border between the worlds: nature, human civilization and God. Here we can see the unveiling of the idea of realistic symbolism, which involves the search for mediation between different entities. However, he does not come to it because of the fact that the protagonist of the described events is under the influence of principio individuationis. Only the resignation from this principle - which occurs in the poems of Oak and Desire, and in other works of The Meadow - shows the space of the forest as a place of reconciliation between beings. In the interpretation, it was noticed that Leśmian's cosmogonic concepts were inspired by the philosophical thought of Friedrich Nietzsche and Henri Bergson.
The article examines the main groups of male characters in the poetic texts of Jacques Prévert. The uncon-ventionality of the genre form (i.e. biographical prose - sketch) does not contradict the thought and empirical content. Although the author's approach to the fate of historical figures is realized mainly due to aesthetic contact with the reader, he also elevated this communication to a non-aggressive opposition to "revolt against historicism" among young artists, whose goal was the "negation of national existence". The male world is represented here in abundance by numerous names of famous naturalists, philosophers and poets of the XVII-XVIII centuries and of Victorian England, as well as by the male characters of the novel. It is pointed out that the concepts of “masculine” and “non-masculine” in the novel presuppose double reading, namely, the traditional (Victorian) and posttraditional one (neo-Victorian). In the neo-Victorian interpretation, most of the male characters in the novel are devoid of traditional masculine qualities (honor and dignity, commitment to the cause, inner strength), they bear a stigma of vice (incest), while the “male organization” features of the central female character, non-typical for a Victorian woman (talent, efficiency, perseverance, energy, self-reliance), contribute to the formation of an integral harmonious world of men and women as friends, lovers, like-minded people.
2021-11-03T00:00:00+00:00 Prawa autorskie (c) Problém „mužského“ jazyka (na príklade básní Migleny Nikolčinej a Ireny Ivanovej) 2021-11-03T14:07:45+00:00 Irena Dimova
The paper is devoted to the problem of the „male“ language which can be found in the works of two Bulgarian poets – Miglena Nikolchina and Irena Ivanova (better known by her pseudonym Rene Karabaš). The author associates them with the change that happens in literary criticism and the literary production itself after the 1990s. The author considers the synthesis of poetry and prose, poetry and theory as an intertextual „dialogue” through which is possible to analyze the texts of both poets. The interpretation focuses on modelling and transforming a plebeian and obedient hero into a modern, educated and confident bachelor. At the same time, it marginally touches on the image of a man / father, who changes into an uncertain, unreliable and often absent parent on the axis of the dominant and patriarchal. The text also presents poetological aspects of the protagonists' creation: a realistic image in Kukučín's short stories, a slightly subjectivised and expressive image of a boy of interwar prose, a naive and stylised type from the 1950s fiction, an immediate, an authentic and plastic hero modelled by modern prose in novels for young adults. In this novel, the writer does not discuss politics, the problem of men and women, husbands and wives, and the sexual promiscuity, but, above all, unstoppable aging and permanent support of the gradually waning sexuality. Leopold is a metaphor of anatomy and physiology of a Central European man who, in his own manner, has always aimed at searching new ways, at the beginning of new epochs, at the anticipation of new ideas and at the formation of new humans under the changed conditions. Viewegh – already in his quasipostmodernist poetics, and due to his extreme opinions and language and style inventions – belongs, covertly or openly, to the mighty stream of unclear, vague, ambivalent Central European literature.
2021-11-03T00:00:00+00:00 Prawa autorskie (c) Nevypovedané a nevidené. Various theories of narrative gaps and text negations are demonstrated in Julian Barnes’s novel The Sense of an Ending (2011) depicting the story of four young men – old high-school friends – who have to deal with the death of their close one. The author chooses an interesting form of story composition and represents the literary text as a fraction which the reader concretizes and defines. The contribution focuses on a main feature of the stylization (artisticity and theatricality) and presents the consequences of stylizing a subject into a voyeur-oriented modern troubadour. The paper lays out the basic theoretical approaches to masculinity in literary texts presented in relevant German literary works of the second decade of the 21st century. In contemporary literary analyses, it is not only a question of revealing masculine power structures in literary texts, but also of criticising one-sided and stereotypical constructs of male identity. Attention is focused on the combination of masculinity and emotionality, but also on the relationship between masculinity and fatherhood or on the literary reflections of the changes in the conventional status of man as a breadwinner, public actor and creative intellectual.
