The article deals with issues related to the phenomenon of multiculturalism (including those resulting from the intensification of migration movements after 2022, when Russia began military aggression against Ukraine), which “forces” a modern teacher to have appropriate intercultural competences in order to function properly in a culturally diverse environment. The mission of such a teacher should therefore be: cultivating one's own identity, language and culture, overcoming stereotypes and prejudices, counteracting social and cultural inequalities, discrimination, social exclusion, shaping attitudes for acceptance of differences, mutual respect and the ability to resolve conflicts, conduct negotiations and proper intercultural dialogue. Preparing a teacher to work in a culturally diverse group should be focused on personality and sociocultural competences, but also on innovative methods and forms of animating a social life in communities originating from different cultural circles.
