Abstract

Modern technologies are playing an increasingly important role in improving the quality of life of people with disabilities, especially in terms of their safety and ability to use the services of public institutions such as the Police. They facilitate faster and more effective responses to emergency situations, which is important in view of the various barriers faced by this social group. The article focuses on an overview of technological solutions, such as mobile apps, GPS systems and mobility aids. The purpose of the paper remains to analyze innovative technologies in terms of their role in enhancing security and facil-itating access to the police by people with disabilities. Accordingly, modern technological solutions supporting this social group were evaluated. The research problem was formulated in the form of a ques-tion: to what extent do the technologies in question affect the level of security and accessibility to services – especially the Police – for people with disabilities? The stated hypothesis refers to the assumption that these solutions significantly improve the quality of life of this group, increasing their autonomy and level of security. In addition, despite the architectural and information and communication barriers that still exist, these technologies significantly facilitate contact with services. The study used theoretical methods, including an analysis of the literature on disability, security and modern technology. A key methodological element was an inference based on a review of available sources on the relationship between modern tech-nologies and improved accessibility to law enforcement institutions. The results of the analysis indicate that technologies, such as mobility aids, spatial orientation systems, and communication applications, sig-nificantly improve accessibility to the Police for people with disabilities. They also contribute to increasing their independence, which can translate into a higher level of security and a more efficient response in emergency situations. It is worth noting that although digital accessibility plays an important role in the lives of people with disabilities, it was not discussed more extensively in the study. This is due to the research perspective adopted by the author, focused mainly on the physical aspects of providing security. In this perspective, digital accessibility is treated as an intermediate element.
