Poland’s Security Environment in the Aspect of Geopolitical Changes

The characterization of the security environment is an extremely important issue in the field of social sciences, especially those concerning international relations and security sciences. It is undoubtedly essential when making any decision concerning forecasting, defining and assessing the security situation together with its internal and external environment. The article decomposes the concept of the security environment into the following issues: the security environment as a conceptual scope and the characterization of the Polish security environment in the national and international perspective. It should be noted that special attention was paid to events that have a significant impact on the dimension of Poland’s current security environment, i.e. geopolitical changes in systemic transformation, globalization, as well as current challenges, opportunities and threats. Considerations were also undertaken regarding the analy-sis of strategic documents in the field of security and defense of Poland, NATO and the European Union, as well as the shaping of the international security environment by superpower states and other non-Euro-pean organizations with global and regional reach. The main objective of this study is to characterize the security environment of Poland, NATO and the European Union in the aspect of geopolitical changes.
