In the text, the author tries to analyze Wit's Szostak debut novel from the perspective of a researcher interested in tracking the forms of masculinity in contemporary Polish literature. The basis for the analysis is the protagonists' characteristics as compared to antique templates derived from Greek and Judeo-Christian sources. The conclusion shows protagonists as carriers of many typical heroic features. The author tries to emphasize the presence of ideal sons and fathers as well as the relationship between them. In conclusion, the author suggests the possibility of perceiving the society shown in Wichry Smoczogór as an idealized patriarchy.
