Abstract

Contemporary approaches to disability and functional limitations increasingly emphasize the importance of full participation in social life. In this context, physiotherapy plays a significant role that extends beyond the traditional understanding of restoring bodily functions. The aim of this article is to present the importance of physiotherapy in the process of social inclusion of individuals with functional limitations. The paper discusses the relationships between functional capacity, independence, and opportunities for social participation. Particular attention is paid to the role of physiotherapy in enhancing functional independence, supporting social activity, and improving the quality of life of individuals experiencing health-related limitations. The article also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary co-operation involving physicians, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and non-governmental organizations. The analysis indicates that physiotherapy constitutes an important component of social inclusion by increasing opportunities for active participation in family, educational, occupational, and community life.
