Abstract

This article discusses a specific relationship between philosophy and religion, also Greek and early-Christian inspirations for the philosophy of St. Augustine, especially in the context of evidences for the existence of God. In the further part of the text were analyzed the arguments for the existence of God (or the Absolute) which are present in Platonic and Neoplatonic philosophy and which directly and indirectly influenced the Augustinian formulas of evidences. The summary is the demonstration and description of the analogy along with the interpretation of the impact it had on the shape of the concepts adopted by one of the most important representatives of Christian philosophy.
