Child trauma after divorce. About "fuzzy" portraits of fathers and the primacy of femininity in the works of Christine Nöstlinger

Abstract

In Nöstlinger’s books, caricature is closely linked with another comic technique, namely stereotypization. It is primarily concerned with stereotyped perceptions of roles and characteristics ascribed to men and women. Thus, men are expected to act bravely and be chivalrous toward women, and the female model itself stigmatizes women a priori as weak and vulnerable. The author focuses on the following issues: contrast between spouses (tyrant husband and victim wife, emasculated husband and omnipotent wife), children-parents relations (liberal vs. traditional family).
