Abstract

This article examines the theme of hidden tyranny, based on the medieval treatise Tractatus de Tyranno by Bartolius de Saxoferrato, in the novel The Host by Stephenie Meyer. Different researchers classify the science fiction novel The Host as belonging to different genres, so the first part of the article provides a brief overview of the research on this topic. The article also analyses the possible sources of this novel, since the writer works in the style of rewritings and reinterpretations.
