Abstract

The article focuses on characters of tyrants and the phenomenon of tyranny as represented in Polish fairy-tale opera librettos. Based on a philosophical and political conceptual apparatus, as well as on a cross-disciplinary approach to the phenomenon, the article seeks to answer the following questions: who and what are the tyrants? how and towards whom do they behave in this way? what are their actions dictated by? what do they result in?
