ЛЕГЕНДЫ О ПЕТРЕ ВЕЛИКОМ В РОМАНЕ АЛЕКСЕЯ ТОЛСТОГО ПЁТР ПЕРВЫЙ

Abstract

The idea of Peter the Great and his epoch interested Aleksey Tolstoy all his life. The first work on this topic was created in the beginning of XX century. Then he wrote short stories The First Terrorists (Первые террористы); The Delusion (Наваждение); Peter’s Day (День Петра) and a play On the Rack (На дыбе). Finally, in 1929 he began to write the novel Peter the First. Tolstoy corrected the text because he tried to correct the discourse of the main character of the novel, Peter the Great.
