Abstrakt

This paper focuses on the private life of Jan Sobieski and Maria Kazimiera, including their family and love life. The theoretical framework has been based on letters exchanged between Jan Sobieski and Maria Kazimiera d’Arquien de la Grange. It includes a thorough analysis of the ‘Jan and Marysieńka’s love letters’ as well as introduces the authors of those letters. The topi cis presented from different points of view, including contents of the letters and analysis from historians familiar with this field of work. Moreover the paper portrays the issue of genuine and pretended love between Maria Kazimiera and Jan Sobieski based on the analysis by reputable historians.
