The article presents an analysis of selected concepts of a holistic approach to education and human development over the years. Starting with Jan Amos Comenius, through Maria Montessori's concept of cosmic education and Wincenty Okoń’s theory of multilateral educa-tion, to contemporary methods such as problem-based learning (PBL). The pedagogical concepts discussed reveal a consistent view of the education process, regardless of time. They emphasise the need for holistic human development, the integration of knowledge from various fields, an understanding of connections and dependencies, and the active role of the student in discovering the world. In light of contemporary educational, social and digital challenges, such an approach is becoming particularly important. Holistic education not only supports a fuller understanding of complex reality, but also fosters attitudes of responsibility and respect, building a better future. The analysis indicates that a multifaceted approach to education remains relevant and essential in order to meet the changing challenges of the future world.
