John Amos Comenius (1592–1670) holds a unique place in the history of pedagogy as the creator of a coherent concept of human development and universal education. Barbara Sitarska emphasizes the humanist and universalist dimensions of his concept. Comenius advocated lifelong education and emphasized the need to educate not only children but also adults. Sitarska’s analysis indicates that Comenius's thought is relevant today, emphasizing holistic human development, inclusive access to education, teacher ethics, and the integration of theory and practice. His ideas remain an inspiration for general pedagogy, didactics, moral education, and intercultural education.
