Abstrakt

Based on an epigraphic collection as rich as it is varied, composed mainly of pagan Latin epitaphs, we conduct an onomastic study of the inhabitants of the colonia Iulia Veneria Cirta Nova Sicca, in proconsular Africa, today El Kef in northwestern Tunisia. This study proposes to study the onomastics, the names and the family strategies of the Siccenses in the Roman period. Several families have been identified whose origins can be identified (indigenous or non-native), and the cognomina and unique names of the Siccenses are revealing clues about the origins of the inhabitants of the entire region.
