About the Journal

THEMATIC SCOPE

"Conversatoria Linguistica" is published as an annual by the Scientific Publishing House of the University of Siedlce. The primary version of the journal is the paper version; in addition, articles are made available on a platform on the website (for the current issue and archival editions). The journal was founded at the Podlasie Academy  in 2008 by prof. Krystyna Wojtczuk, PhD.

"Conversatoria Linguistica", due to the diversity of the addressed issues, is of interest to young linguistic researchers and respected authors from various academic centres, publishing in the journal the results of the latest research in diachronic and synchronic linguistics and related disciplines.

The aim of the yearbook is to meet the standards associated with high scientific excellence and ethical standards, which we strive for at every stage of publishing.

Articles on linguistic topics written in Polish and in congress languages are accepted for publication in the journal. We publish articles on diachronic and synchronic linguistics, comparative linguistics, cognitive and cultural linguistics, glottodidactics, sociolinguistics, dialectology, stylistics, culture of language, onomastics, semantics, cultural studies and speech therapy.

PUBLISHING ETHICS

"Conversatoria Linguistica" has introduced rules that counteract manifestations of scientific dishonesty, i.e. the ghostwriting barrage and the guest authorship barrage. The rules adopted by the editorial board of "Conversatoria Linguistica" are in line with COPE procedures and the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the UNESCO Code of Good Manners in Scientific Publications and the Code of the National Science Centre regarding the integrity of scientific research and applying for research funding.

THE REVIEW PROCESS

  1. Articles on linguistic topics written in Polish and in congress languages are accepted for publication in the yearbook after the compatibility of the submitted text with the profile of the journal has been established (preliminary stage).
  2. Texts that receive editorial approval are subjected to further review by external reviewers, with the exception of scientific reviews, book discussions and conference reports.
  3. Two independent reviewers from outside the scientific unit affiliated by the author of the publication are appointed to evaluate each scientific article. The reviewers shall be academics with a strong track record in the field of the issues addressed in the peer-reviewed text.
  4. The review is objective and should be expressed clearly with arguments. The subject of the assessment is the text, so personal criticism of the author is not acceptable. Reviews should be sent to the editor by the deadline agreed between the editor and the reviewer.
  5. The editors shall ensure that there are no conflicts of interest, understood as direct personal relationships (in particular kinship up to the second degree, marriage), relationships of professional subordination or direct scientific collaboration.
  6. Authors of articles and reviewers do not know each other's identities(double-blind review process). If a reviewer suspects, on the basis of the text or other indications (e.g. the subject matter covered), who may be the author of a text and considers that there is a conflict of interest, he or she is obliged to notify the editorial office immediately. If this is the case, the text is referred to the next reviewer.
  7. The review shall be in writing and shall conclude with a clear conclusion that the article is accepted for publication or rejected. The review is submitted on an editorial form. Negative reviews must include a justification for the opinion on the rejection of the text. In the case of detailed comments, it is acceptable to include them in a .doc or .docx file containing the reviewer's comments. In such cases, reviewers are required to remove personal information (initials) that may indicate their authorship.
  8. In the event of differing opinions, the editors refer to a third reviewer. After obtaining his or her opinion, the College decides to publish or reject the text.
  9. If the reviewers accept the article for publication without comments, only the information that the text has received positive reviews is communicated to the author. If the reviews contain comments, these are communicated to the author.
  10. If the reviewers accept the text for publication conditionally (suggesting changes, additions, etc.), the author receives the text submitted for publication with the reviewers' comments and the reviews.
  11. The article is qualified for publication after the author has received two positive reviews and has followed the indications contained therein.
  12. Authors are notified by the editors of the publication or rejection of the text by e-mail. In the case of publications that have several authors, the editors correspond with the person who submitted the text to "Conversatoria".
  13. The author may decline publication if he or she does not agree with the validity of the feedback received.
  14. The author's failure to respond within one month after receiving information from the editors on reviews suggesting changes is considered a decision to decline publication in "Conversatoria Linguistica".
  15. Personal data and affiliations of authors and reviewers of publications submitted to "Conversatoria Linguistica" are posted on the website and in the print version of the journal respecting the principles of RODO. In order to preserve anonymity, the reviewers of individual publications are not disclosed.
