The subject matter of this article falls within the scope of microhistory, as it is local in nature, concerns a small area and a small local community – the partial landowners of Olszyc. It presents the settlers’ efforts to change their parish affiliation – separating from the Wodynie parish and joining the Domanice parish, half the distance away. The article also presents the actions of the church authorities, striving to thoroughly investigate the matter and issue a decision satisfactory to the parties. The social, cultural,
and generational aspects of the actions of both supporters and opponents of changing Olszyc’s parish affiliation are also considered. The blurring of former administrative and ecclesiastical divisions in a small area remains significant.
