Abstrakt

Jan Amos Komeński was propagating rules of harmonious life, which maintains the balance between learning and resting. He suggested motor plays (run, bowling, wrestling, football game) and mental gymnastics (chess) to pupils with the aim of engaging and relaxing them during spare time. Furthermore educa-tionalist recommended joint preparations for theatrical performances and carefully chosen readings. On the other hand he considered swimming, sword fight, tree climbing, card and dice games to be dangerous entertainments.
