The article presents the experimental material from surveys, in which seven-element
proportional sequence was used. Using the results, the author classifies relations which interfered
the form similarity and discusses difficulties causing that failure. The research proves that
students focused on formal similarity relation experienced difficulties in semantic relation
observance. The applied method allows for monitoring of the symptoms and concluding the
causes of difficulties students face when setting relation between words, making morphological
and lexical structure.
